Inaugural WTM Spotlight Riyadh Brings Global Travel Trade to Saudi Arabia
The first WTM Spotlight Riyadh was held on 8–10 September 2026 at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Centre. It brought together global and regional travel leaders, buyers and suppliers to explore both inbound and outbound travel. The event is organised by RX, which also runs WTM London and Arabian Travel Market. It was expected to draw more than 450 exhibitors, about 6,500 visitors and 150 hosted buyers.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism was the strategic partner for the inaugural edition. It aims to strengthen international collaboration and attract investment to the Kingdom’s growing tourism sector. Danielle Curtis, regional portfolio director at RX, called the partnership a sign of the Kingdom’s ambition to play a bigger role in global tourism.
The conference programme focused on Vision 2030 tourism targets, outbound travel, connectivity, visitor experiences, workforce development and digital innovation. Sessions also covered sports tourism, faith-based travel and the changing nature of Umrah and pilgrimage. UN Tourism ran a session on community-based tourism and authentic local experiences, along with a startup showcase.
